Help Mrs. Czech

Save the last dance for us! I am a creative arts as well as a dance teacher in a special needs school. My students range from 14 to 21 and their level of ability range from wheelchair bound to highly functioning and capable to move on their own.

Once a week, we have a 2 hour dance class in which I teach my students some different exercise techniques, which include yoga, Tai chi, muscle work outs, as well as different forms of dance. We are trying to keep them moving and learn what they are capable of doing. It is very hard, however, to have these children lay on their backs on a hard wood floor.

Working out is already hard enough for some of my students, and with the placement of some exercise mats, it makes their undefeatable task, defeatable. I am looking for 20 exercise mats, in order to enable my students abilities in the field of movement. I know they can complete the tasks I give them, but I want them to know they can do it, even without their teachers help.

Your help will make it possible for my students to enjoy what they can do instead of focusing on what they cannot do. They will no longer be limited to their disability. You will help them break away from their "I cannot do that" frame of mind.
