Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from Springfield Massachusetts are bright, incredible, resilient, and creative students! After 18 months of online learning and a strange new COVID reality they came back to the classroom with a fierce passion for learning. My students cover the spectrum of abilities and learning styles. Our students range from Kindergarten through fifth grade. As a specials teacher it is my job to find a way to connect with each of the approximately 400 students, and encourage them to embrace their artistic and creative abilities.

My Project

I am so proud to begin the first elementary drama program in Springfield, MA! This is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore the arts, and get creative! We are working on building a material supply, and your help is needed! These materials will help our students explore healthy nutrition, money management, and multi cultural markets! The items listed are the perfect way to encourage students to play, get creative, and bring their own identities into the classroom! The market will be stocked with food that students can "bring home" to their play kitchen and create a "healthy meal" for their friends! I am eager to provide more dramatic play options for my students, as they thrive when they are allowed to create for themselves. The mirror will allow the students to put on their own costumes with minimal help, and get in character for their play time.
