My Project

My students want to plant bushes to help save the bees! The Burford Shrub helps bees by providing nectar and pollen through its small white flowers in late spring and early summer.

This vital food source supports bee populations while also aiding in plant pollination.

Additionally, its dense, evergreen foliage offers shelter, giving bees a safe place to rest and protection from predators and harsh weather. By planting Burford Holly, you create a bee-friendly habitat that promotes a healthy ecosystem and supports these essential pollinators, contributing to biodiversity and environmental sustainability. In addition to helping bees, the Burford Shrub offers many other benefits! It attracts butterflies and other pollinators, while its bright red berries provide food for birds in fall and winter. Its evergreen foliage adds year-round beauty and privacy, and it’s a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plant that resists pests. Plus, its strong root system helps with erosion control, and its spiny leaves make it deer-resistant.
