My Project

Typically when one thinks of middle school, they think of independent students, moving from class to class, stopping by a locker to talk to a friend then run off to their class before a bell rings.

Our middle schoolers have to carry all of their books from class to class without the luxury of a locker or safe space to keep their supplies.

These middle schoolers do not have the typical experience as they are in a hundred year old building with elementary school students.

To help their backs, students currently have their books and notebooks stacked in piles on the floor in my classroom. Students have seven periods of classes that they carry all of their materials with them in their backpacks. Having a bookshelf to store their materials will help them organize and carry less materials.
