Help me give my students These robots are going to help students put a visual representation to not only ionic bonding... but fuel cells in our electrochemistry section. Thank you in advance for helping my students!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This past year has been particularly challenging. As a chemistry teacher I like to do a lot of hands-on activities. Moving from all hand-on labs to mostly virtual labs was very boring and I am looking to come back next year ready for some fun learning. I have not met my students yet... But I can tell you they are going to love these "Salt Water Fuel Cell Robots". My students are very good at engineering and math. This is going to be a perfect lab addition for our electrochemistry section.
My Project
These robots will be used in a lab in the upcoming 2021-2022 school year and the years to come. The idea is to reinforce the learning for fuel cells and redox reactions. This will also tie in how ionic bonds can conduct electricity when dissolved in water. There are many topics in chemistry that these robots will help students understand. Students are always questioning why they are learning the material if they will never use it in the future. These STEM activities help young students spark an interest in science. Putting a physical connection to a complex subject aids students to better learn and understand.
