My Project

This year we have the most diverse group of learner's we have ever had. That being said, new items are needed in our classroom in order to help keep all children safe, provide them with sensory breaks, and enhance their skills.

We have a lot of adaptive equipment in our room for our friends who have physical difficulties and require standers, walkers, or Hoyer lifts.

To keep not only the students who use this equipment safe but also the other students in the class, a way to block off these items is needed. A gate would be the most cost-effective option to keep other children away from this equipment so they cannot unscrew parts or climb on it, risking injury. Lot's of our students do not understand when we tell them they cannot go near the equipment, so blocking access is the safest option.

We are also in need of lots of sensory fidgets and tools for students who require breaks due to sensory overload or those who are working for breaks with these items. Having a variety of ways students can calm themselves is vital as not all students like the same things. The rocking chair will be most helpful in aiding students who are having a difficult time getting themselves regulated.

Learning tools will help with fine motor and direction-following skills which are two areas that we work on very hard in my room. All items will be used by all students in the classroom in order to provide a sensory-friendly, and more importantly safe, learning environment that allows each child to excel to the best of their ability.
