Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students are 12th graders with autism at a charter cchool designed for individuals on the spectrum. My class this year will focus on functional academics to provide the tools to help them in the future. The students will learn how to function in life after school. They work exceptionally well with real world objects and manipulatives. The students that use these manipulatives have shown an increase in their ability to understand and comprehend more functional tasks in all settings.

My Project

I am requesting materials that will increase safety awareness. My students need additional help and modeling to become more aware of their surroundings. They will have the opportunity to see safety signs, practice with the signs and even play games. The manipulatives and real-world objects will make their transition into adulthood a smoother one. When using the survival signs and word cards, the students will become familiar with their surroundings in the community. This will help them to realize potential dangers that can exist in their home or surrounding areas. All of these materials requested will enhance their learning within the classroom.
