Help me give my students dramatic play items that can be safely cleaned and sanitized, and help keep my teaching team safe through the use of full face masks.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Zajac's classroom raised $403

My Students
I teach full inclusion preschool in Newaygo County, a very rural community in West Michigan. My students are 3-5 years old and over half of my class are special needs students. Several of those students are medically fragile, while others have IEPs for Speech, OT, and/or PT.
In my class, maintaining the health and safety of my students and my teaching staff is my number one priority as we return to school.
My teaching team and I have been working very hard on what changes we will make to the classroom to best follow reopening guidelines and medical advice. I look forward to this school year despite not knowing what it holds for us.
My Project
Imaginative pretend play is a crucial part of children's development. Through pretend play, such as playing "house" or "restaurant", or "work", children learn social-emotional skills, develop language and literacy, work on numeracy concepts, and engage in the give and take of joint planning and play that later develops into cognitive flexibility, which is critical to academic learning and success.
Imaginative play allows children to work through feelings of stress, fear, and anxiety, of which many children are experiencing because of COVID-19, in a safe manner.
The materials I've requested are all solidly built and will withstand being sanitized several times each day. In the past, I've used real food boxes donated by families, but that is no longer an option due to the current health crisis. The face shields for staff will allow us to safely interact with children as we teach and play with them, while still allowing them to see our faces and learn to recognize the emotions and social cues everyone projects through their facial movements.
More than half of students from low‑income households
