Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As speech-language pathologists in a low-income/high poverty school district, our students on the autism spectrum and with emotional disturbances are faced with several challenges each day. Despite the many challenges they face, we are looking to provide our students with meaningful learning experiences and design a therapeutic setting which nurtures individual learning, social, sensory and emotional needs.

As SLP's, we provide individual and group speech and language therapy to students with focus in the areas of receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language, articulation, fluency, phonological awareness, reading comprehension, narrative development, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and sensory based feeding desensitization.

This year especially, it is our utmost priority to provide a SAFE, supportive, fun, and positive environment each and every day.

My Project

As we prepare our speech room for the arrival of our students in less than a week, their safety as well as the safety of our team is our top priority. By funding this project you will provide plexiglass partitions that will significantly reduce the risk of a therapist or student contracting COVID-19 and getting our loved ones sick as well.

For many of our students, the expectation of wearing a mask throughout the duration of the school day may be extremely difficult and unrealistic.

These partitions will help protect our students and staff when there is nothing else to protect them. Please help our return to the school building to be both safe and successful!
