They are feeling so many emotions and need a space to be able to feel all of their emotions safely and learn how to reset themselves so they can continue to thrive in the classroom. A sensory area provides different textures and multiple ways to release their energy and emotions. It is a soothing, relaxing space full of strategies to calm themselves and help them to understand their feelings. Students need to learn that it’s ok to feel their feelings and be given the tools to help them express and understand those feelings safely.
