Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a social worker in the Bronx, I see many of my students having trouble with engaging in social emotional learning. SEL is not widely spoken about in our communities and with students spending a majority of their time in the classroom many students may not have the equitable opportunities to develop a well-rounded growth mindset. Many students spend time in my office and I want students to feel comfortable in my office in an inclusive way. With a gallery wall of posters reiterating the importance of kindness and expressing their feelings it would provide that visual aspect many students may not see day to day in the classroom.

Some students that I service have sensory issues and items like the teepee tent or exercise stability discs on my list will be able to alleviate uncomfortable sensations.
