Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fifth graders are full of energy, and most of all eager to learn. Our school is an inner-city school with 97% of the population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. These kids come to school excited and ready to give it their all.

Many are English learners working hard to reach their English goals to reclassify and be proficient in English with little support at home.

My students enjoy spending time at school many times because school is the one place they feel safe and taken care of. They come ready to tackle any academic challenge they come across. It is a great experience as a teacher to see how they take ownership of their learning throughout the year.

My Project

Once we return to the classrooms, we will not be returning to the classroom learning environment we left behind in March 2020. Our class culture built on collaboration or group projects will be different. The X-Pen will help me give my students individual guidance while still adhering to social distancing guidelines. Each child needs to have a set of materials that only they can use, the tape labels will be used to label each of their materials to avoid mixing them. The Answer Buzzers will help to reinvent group collaboration in a safe yet fun way.

Having the right tools to return to in-class instruction will help make learning more effective.

The day-to-day demands of classroom management will be a bit more manageable with all the tools I am requesting. With all these new items both student and teacher will be able to transition back into the classroom with a much-needed easement.
