Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! They come from a variety of backgrounds and unique home situations where sometimes school may be their only safe and comfortable place. Our school represents a large group of low-income students that would benefit from having flexible seating. This would allow students to be able to wiggle or move around.

My students are creative and eager to learn.

They bring enthusiasm and curiosity to all activities. They are very grateful and excited when they have new materials that help them learn. I know that if they were to have flexible seating, they would probably be able to have better focus. Please help me make flexible seating possible in my classroom.

My Project

This year I will be teaching third grade in a project-based learning environment!

Research has shown that students don't all learn the same way and flexible seating choices will help those students with learning difficulties.

The different types of seats, ottomans, floor cushions, and stools, will allow the students to work in multiple spaces. Flexible seating will allow my students to wobble, rock, bounce, or stand, which will help with the oxygen flow to their brains. This might lead to more learning in our classroom. Having flexible seating will also help my students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class. I want my classroom to be welcoming, engaging and at the same time allow for movement, investigation, and community building.
