Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently a 3rd/4th Grade self-contained Special Education teacher in a public elementary school in the South Bronx, where 97% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and 30% of our students live in temporary housing. My class consists of 12 amazing students who are compassionate, enthusiastic, and have a great love for learning! My students have disabilities ranging from Learning Disabilities to Autism and Emotional Disturbance. As Students with Disabilities, many of my students have underlying health conditions that make them vulnerable to COVID-19. The health and safety of my students is my Number #1 priority.

My Project

During COVID-19, my students' neighborhood has been one of hardest-hit areas in NYC, and it continues to be heavily impacted.

As the new school year is approaching, students deserve to come back to a safe and clean learning environment.

The sanitary supplies in this project, such as facial tissues and disinfecting spray to clean student desks, will help my students feel safe in their classroom. Almost all of my students come from low socioeconomic households, and families don't have the economic means to supply these resources. By providing these safety essentials, I hope to take away the worry from families about purchasing cleaning supplies and just focus on their child's learning for a great school year! This will make positive impact on their in-classroom learning and overall well-being. Thank you for your support!
