My Project

I am a first year teacher for a class of eight wonderful 1st and 2nd grade students with Autism and other disabilities in New York City. Most of my students are non-verbal and learn best when their social-emotional needs are being met. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Having a new teacher come in mid year has definitely been a unique challenge for my students, who benefit from routine and consistency.

Help me set up my classroom with comfortable items for our calm corner, and sensory items for learning through play!

Materials like play-doh and kinetic sand will be utilized daily to reinforce academic concepts and through learning stations. A sensory table will give my students a distinct place where they know they can explore (and a vacuum to clean up any messes!) Bean Bags and sensory items will be available to my students throughout the day to help meet their needs and allow them to focus on learning. Thank you for considering supporting my class!
