Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income / high poverty school district, I see that my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Somehow, my students do not let the challenges stop them from learning. My students are highly unique individuals with a thirst for learning. I am teaching Science to approximately 90 students. These students love hands-on learning and thrive when given the opportunity to learn this way.

My students are a wonderful group of students primarily of Hispanic descent and most with socioeconomic challenges.

During this pandemic, my students will have to be taught virtually. With your help, we can provide more interactive lessons and teach in a more personal manner with the use of advanced technology.

My Project

When students start their day prepared the best learning can happen. Many of my students do not have all the school supplies needed in school or at home to be successful learners. The students you would be supporting are without the basic school supplies that are essential for everyday use. Due to the safety protocol at our school, the students are not allowed to share any supplies. I am requesting colored pencils, markers, rulers, crayons, pencils/erasers, scissors and pencil pouches, so I can give each student their personal set of materials.

Having school supplies readily available will allow my neediest students the opportunity to complete assignments and become successful without the worry or embarrassment of not having their materials.

The pandemic has hurt struggling families financially. Your generous donation will not only ensure that my students are prepared for school, but it will also reduce the financial burden and stress that back to school shopping can cause.
