My Students

Our school goes from Pre-K all the way to 8th grade. At such a large school funding sometimes is hard to find for each and every classroom. We are a tight knit, school community with many dedicated teachers and staff members who put their hearts and souls into our school. Our students are from all different ethnic groups as well as socioeconomic backgrounds. In my classroom, we are a 3rd and 4th grade 12.1.1 class. My students are unique with amazing personalities, and strive to do their personal best despite the varying disabilities they may have. Despite the many challenges my students face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students the foundation they need to succeed in the future.

My Project

Copy paper is the backbone of every classroom. Students bring in paper in the beginning of the year but it's never enough.

Some students cannot afford all their supplies and must make the choice between copy paper (which can be pricey) and more personal items such as pencils and backpacks.

Unfortunately, not all schools have the funds to provide paper either. Without paper, homework assignments, rubrics, checklists, graphic organizers and other important copies cannot be made.

Differentiating is essential in a 12.1.1 setting - we make different worksheets for different students based on their abilities. Different groups of students receive different things they need to help them succeed. Some students need graphic organizers and checklists for every writing assignment. Some require pictures for vocabulary. Other students need their assignments broken down into smaller parts on different sets of paper ---- At the end of the day - it is a lot of paper!

It would be a shame to not be able to provide out students will all the paper they need just because of a shortage of copy paper. It may seem like something little but it would be so helpful!

Basic supplies like pens, pencils, and notebooks are the foundation of being ready to learn! Having these items ready in the classroom will ensure that all of our students will have the equal opportunities since some students are not able to get these items on their own. These items will help students individually as well as helping them as a whole. Other supplies help make the classroom a positive environment. Stickers are always a great encouragement for students doing well! Other supplies such as markers, scissors, and paper keep the classroom running smoothly.
