My Project

Hi! My name is Coach Seim. I am the head track and cross-country coach for NHS. We are the largest and most diverse inner-city school in Pennsylvania. I am humbly requesting these Garmin 145 running watches for my incredible, hardworking, and competitive student-athletes, whom otherwise could not dream of affording such an item; an item that in many cases, even recreational runners, including myself, take for granted. I am so proud to have this group to call me coach. Very often, the student population that I teach, and coach lack the basic necessities of life, let alone a valuable tool such as this to track their fitness, progress, health and wellness and ability to connect online with the greater running community. Most importantly, with these watches, my students can track their successes, progress, fitness level, dietary habits, nutrition, sleep, hydration, energy levels and communicate with friends and their coaches on STRAVA.

I can picture my kids (that's what I call them) opening up their new Garmin Forerunner boxes and lighting up with joy; I hope you can too!

I always begin my season by talking about running and racing as a metaphor for life. A race is a journey having a start, middle, and end. During the race, they must pace themselves as they battle toward the finish line. In this process they may want to speed up, slow down or sometimes give up. However, if they focus, believe they can win and compete with strength, honor, and integrity, as in life, they have already won their race.

Please help my student-athletes get their season off to a great START, to PACE themselves, and to WIN their race. These watches will go a long way to accomplishing this noble task.
