Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The water, snacks, and sports gels we are requesting make a difference in students who are a part of the Running Club at my school. They will get the protein and hydration needed to run during practice and at our events. The goal of this project is to provide students with what they need to run their best. The hijabs would be special to our girls who have to stop regularly during practice and events to adjust their hijabs, and with these they would not need to do so.

The students in our club are special, because even though most of them did not have any running experience when they joined the club, they took a chance, and as a result they have introduced a new avenue of fitness, health, and community in their lives they did not have before.

They choose to stay in school until 4:00 pm, twice a week, instead of rushing home to do other things, like watch TV or play games.

Our club is the avenue through which my students are becoming athletes and being introduced to the world of running as a sport. It has been a pleasure seeing them grow in the sport this year and I am looking forward to seeing them grow even more in the future.
