My Students

My students are all English language learners who have recently immigrated to the U.S. or have parents who have immigrated. They are fiercely proud of their multilingualism even though they sometimes struggle with academic English. Specifically in the domain of writing, they have difficulties. But they love reading and are always eager to show off what they have learned.

My Project

These materials will ensure my student have a wide range of activities and assignments that incorporate academic language as well as artistic expression.

Students will be able to infer about character actions and participate in classroom discussions.

Students will also be able to draw and contribute to large scale artistic group projects. This will help them characterize the major antagonists and protagonists in the story. This will be especially helpful if we are to reinstate remote learning so students will be able to stay active and participate in school while at home.
