Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you forgot to bring your homework home? We want to make sure that never happens! The literature organizer will be used to place homework assignments in throughout the day. We are also asking for a place to store read aloud books that students can access easily.

My school is a K to 4 school in NYC.

We have 27 students in our class this year. Many of the students come from low-economic immigrant families. Our class is an integrated classroom consisting of english language learners and special needs students.

My Project

One of the hardest parts of first grade is learning routines and responsibility. Often times it is hard for students to get everything they need packed up for homework. Having literature rack, with 30 compartments where they can place assignments throughout the day, will ensure they always have the materials they need to complete their assignments at home. It will also aid in students learning routines and classroom procedures. In first grade we read aloud everyday! Students come to love many of these books and often want to use them to model in their own writing or just to read again independently. The book display in this project will make it easier for them to do this.

It is so important to receive these materials to help our students learn responsibility and the importance of homework even as first graders.

We also want to ensure our students have a love for reading by making our read alouds accessible to them.
