My Students

Creativity, imagination, problem-solving and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for every student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals. Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,100 children enrolled.

We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.

My Project

I am requesting funds to attend the Ron Clark Academy school and workshop in Atlanta, Georgia. After hearing Ron Clark speak on Oprah Winfrey and reading some of his inspirational books, I was inspired to see his creative teaching methods and ideas. I have a passion for educating students to think-outside-the-box and prepare them to succeed in life.

If I am able to visit the Ron Clark Academy, I will learn from amazing educators and students, discover innovative strategies and techniques that will help me improve my own second-grade classroom of learners.

This will help me grow professionally and to make improvements in my instruction. I also look forward to seeing how various technology pieces are being implemented at RCA to engage and motivate students' learning. I plan to share what I learn with my colleagues at our school. My students will benefit from this because I will teach in ways that promote creativity, innovation, wonder, joy, and a passion for learning.
