Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In a world dominated by screens, my students have lost touch with the simple joys of play, curiosity, and face-to-face interaction. They spend their time glued to their phones, missing out on opportunities to think critically, strategize, and connect with their peers in meaningful ways. I want to change that.

This project will provide a diverse collection of board games, card games, and dice sets to help my students engage in hands-on learning, develop strategic thinking, and practice social skills in a fun and interactive way.

Games like Chess, Battleship, and Cat Crimes will strengthen problem-solving and logic. Yahtzee and dice-based games will reinforce math skills. Trivia and word games will expand vocabulary and encourage collaboration. And classics like Candy Land, Monopoly Junior, and Guess Who? will help younger students develop communication and turn-taking skills.

With Yondr pouches taking phones out of the equation, students will rediscover what it means to be present, engaged, and creative. This project isn’t just about entertainment—it’s about rebuilding curiosity, critical thinking, and social connections that have been lost in the digital age. Let’s get kids to be kids again—laughing, learning, and playing together.
