This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have been teaching for almost two decades and have been with my school for 13 years. My percussion students are probably my favorite group to teach. Every day is a roller coaster of emotions. They make me laugh, and they get under my skin with the constant hitting and tapping on everything. But they also inspire me with their enthusiasm and give me a feeling of pride when they succeed. Their parents do the best they can to help pay for their supplies, but most of the time the parents are only going to order the cheapest thing they can afford from Amazon.

This project will help the students gain the ability to use good-quality mallets and snare drumsticks that will last them through the year and will also help the students learn to take care of their equipment.

I also hope that by using this equipment it will help the students understand what will get the best sound out of the instruments instead of hitting them with anything they can get their hands on. Thank you for your consideration, I know my students will appreciate it.
