My Students

Have you ever found that physics€™ concepts were too abstract to understand? I want my students to be passionate about physics and to learn to love it. I want them to build their own mini roller coasters to figure out how those terrifying turns on the scariest amusement park attractions rely on applied physics.

I teach science in a school in Brooklyn with a 59% poverty rate.

I work with 250 second grade to fifth grade students. My students are always full of questions. They enjoy doing experiments in class, observing, manipulating materials, measuring, and making predictions. They love to learn how scientists gather and share information.

My Project

I strongly believe that the best way to learn science is through hands-on exploration. I want my students to work in small groups to learn some basic physic laws as they build their own roller coaster and test the safety of the design. I want to encourage my students to be independent scientists who ask questions, make observations, and draw conclusions.

Having a roller coaster kit will support my science curriculum in helping students ask and answer common questions about gravity, g-force, potential and kinetic energy, as well as other physics concepts.

By donating these materials to my classroom, you are helping me to foster my students'€™ love for inquiry and science.
