My Project

The students learn how to calculate things like speed and power but until you feel them in real life, the knowledge is superficial. In this project, the students use masking tape and construction paper. It's a fun art project but it is a test to see if students know how to calculate speed, power, efficiency, and problem-solving. They need to work together and problem-solve, and let me tell ya, problems come up. Things fall over from pressure or weight and, sometimes, the balls themselves can break the coaster. All of these issues can and do get solved by coming up with solutions based on Newton's three laws and friction. In the end, the projects are so diverse and get voted on by the whole staff.
