I am a 5th grade teacher at Travis Elementary School, an inner-city school, in Houston, TX, and I would really appreciate some help in funding a paper roller coaster project. As an end-of-year project and to reinforce concepts we've learned this year, my students want to design and build paper roller coasters. This project is a fun and challenging way to include many of the concepts contained in our curriculum such as force, motion, and geometry, while also building teamwork and problem-solving skills. To be able to do this with all of my kids, I will need foam boards to serve as the bases for our roller coasters, card stock to make tracks, tape to connect the track pieces together, and marbles to be our cars.
