My Students

What a fun way to explain the different types of energy than through the use of a roller coaster. They students will be able to build their own roller coaster and then discuss concepts like kinetic, potential energy, momentum, "g"-forces and more

I teach science in a low-income, rural, mountain community high school in North Carolina.

I try to run a hands-on classroom because I feel students learn better that way. Equipment and resources are limited. Physics is an upper level class. I am hoping that some of the students will enjoy the experience and continue science into college and beyond.

My Project

The K'Nex sets are a great way for my students to have that hands-on experience in class while learning so many required topics like energy, velocity, forces, and more. Most of them have been to amusement parks so having them build their own roller coaster is fun AND educational.

Any help with these resources is really appreciated!

I am trying to build their education, their imagination and inspire some to continue science in the future. This roller coaster set sounds like it will be a fun learning experience.
