This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a school in which 100% of the students receive free lunch. My students live in a low income urban area. Some of my students are already on kindergarten level, while others are a few steps behind them in the race to greatness!
I have a class of 22 bright and eager students, who face many challenges outside the classroom, but they use these speed bumps as motivation to excel.
Their drive and determination, never ceases to amaze me.
My Project
This cart will help us as we continue to navigate our new normal, virtual learning. It will help ease the process as we transition from math to literacy, two crucial subject areas in the Pre- K learning environment.
In the area of literacy we will use it to produce letters and letter sounds, word families, rhyming words and phonological awareness.
In math it will help to number recognition, and one to one correspondence. We will use it to help identify and produce patterns, measurement and some basic addition and subtraction.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
