Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Two years ago I created a patient in-take lesson plan where my students got the opportunity to role play as healthcare professionals in Spanish. Through that lesson I saw how intrigued my students were as they practiced using real-world tools such as medical gowns, clip boards, blood pressure cuff and gauge, and stethoscopes. They used them by pretending to be sick patients, a nurse taking vital signs, or a doctor diagnosing the patient.

Since I began using more real-world healthcare items in my Spanish classes I have seen my students become more excited about going in the medical field.

The goal that I have for this project is to be able to give my students more tools to help expand on my lesson plans.

The tools will be used to take someone's height, do vision tests, and check oxygen levels (in the target language). Having these items available for my students will help provide a deeper interest and hands on practice. Additionally my students will also feel closer to reaching their dreams of working in the medical field. Please help us to obtain pulse oximeter, height charts and an anatomy poster.
