Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious researchers with big dreams for their futures in science and technology. They love to read books about our world on a microscopic level and they ask great questions about organisms. We have explored science museums and are ready to turn our class into our very own lab.

Many of my students are current or former English language learners in a large urban district school.

I strongly believe that I have budding doctors, computer programmers, and researchers buzzing around my classroom this year. They are inquisitive and deep thinkers, ready to uncover our world on a microscopic level. We've read books as a class about living organisms and I would love to give them the experience of interacting with this world inside the four walls of our room to push their thinking, grow their experiences and peak their interest in science and the physical world around them.

My Project

My students will use these materials monthly during specific science lab experiments. They will be applicable to both reading comprehension as well as science. Students will develop a deeper understanding of cells as well as the scientific process. Students will learn about research, lab expectations, and working as a member of a team to find research based a answers to their critical thinking questions

Funding these materials for my classroom will allow my current and future students to see the world around them from a new perspective.

It will increase their interest in the sciences and present opportunities to explore the process and experiences of working in a lab. We cannot wait to put our brains to work with these tools!
