Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a brand new Pre-K center that provides developmentally appropriate practices and a safe environment that is conducive for learning. Our mission is to provide opportunities for our students to learn and grow through authentic experiences that will build a solid foundation for their academic success. The program we provide our students incorporates interactive activities, student-inquiry based lessons, and appropriate social and emotional experiences that target the holistic development of a preschooler.

Our school is located in a low-income area that strives to provide support to our students, as well as their families.

We are continuing to build relationships and incorporate the cultures of our students and their families into our everyday instruction.

My Project

We need a magnetic easel and instruments in order to participate and experience musical activities. These materials will make a tremendous difference in my students' academic career. They will be able to learn about various types of instruments, as well as how to use each instrument. The rhythm sticks will be utilized during daily whole group instructions. The 8-note bells and the xylophone will be used to educate the students on the different sound each note has. The easel will be used for instruction, as well as the students participation when creating musical stories.

Pre-K is the beginning foundation in a child's life, so it is important to incorporate different musical and art concepts that will provide an introduction to all content areas.

My students love to sing and dance. Therefore, I incorporate music as a way to target each subject. My students learn best when music is apart of their day.

These materials will change my students lives because they will get to use instruments that may never see or learn about. They will get to explore and express themselves through music.
