Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For the second year in a row, I will be having the privilege of re-teaching students. Many of my former third graders will be joining my class as fifth graders in the fall. Given the dramatic world events, they had a unique end to their fourth grade year.

As a result, establishing school routines and making the classroom feel safe again after a long break from traditional school is of the utmost importance.

Las Vegas was severely impacted by closures and many in the community have been suffering. Help me to create a new, fresh start to give my students their best school year ever!

My Project

I am requesting three different types of materials: a classroom transformation, morning choice, and new read aloud books.

A majority of the project will go towards a rock and roll themed glow party to kick off our school year.

Students will get VIP lanyards, sunglasses, and hats to complete their rock star looks. We will use party props to transform our classroom into a glow party and use glow sticks for our STEM projects. We will have several days of learning disguised as fun in our glowing, rock star room!

I am also requesting a few new games (Rush Hour and Battle ship) for my students during morning choice time. The first twenty minutes of our day is devoted to eating and creative exploration. No one rushes to school for worksheets! Allowing my students to collaborate and problem solve first thing in the morning sets the tone for a great day of learning.

Lastly, I am requesting a few new diverse books to continue to grow our classroom library. Ensuring that all of my students feel celebrated and represented through literature is crucial.
