This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my students come to class every day with unique perspectives, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Teaching 8th-grade science at a Title I school in Arizona, I have the privilege of working with an incredible group of 150 students, ranging from resource students to ELD learners to honors students. Despite their varied backgrounds and abilities, my students share a desire to understand the world around them -- and it's my goal to make science accessible, engaging, and meaningful for each of them.

The materials I am requesting, composition notebooks, fossil bricks, glue sticks, and pencils, will make a real difference in my students' learning experiences.

The composition notebooks will serve as interactive science journals, giving students a space to take notes, reflect, and express their understanding creatively. The fossil bricks will provide a hands-on experience, allowing my students to act as paleontologists and make real-world connections to our lessons. Glue sticks and pencils may seem simple, but they are essential tools for completing interactive notebook activities, collaborating on projects, and staying organized.

By providing these resources, my goal is to create a learning environment where all of my students feel included and capable of success. These materials will provide each student the opportunity to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning. With your support, we can build a classroom that nurtures their curiosity and helps them thrive!
