Rockin' and Rollin' in the Music Room

Help me give my students access to Orff instrument stands, a wood handle ratchet, and a standard flex-a-tone they can use daily to actively perform and create music.

My Students

My school serves K-5 students from a variety of backgrounds. Many of the students in my school have at least one parent in the Military (predominately Marine Corp and Navy) because of our proximity to a military base. Because of this, our population tends to be very transient as students come and go based on military assignment locations. We are a Title I school, with about 40% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is a themed elementary that focuses on building National Pride and Service to Others as core values.

My Project

These Orff instrument carts and accessory percussion instruments (ratchet and flexatone) will give students access to instruments in music that they don't currently have access to. They will give all students, especially the younger students in my school, the ability to play instruments during our music lessons that may otherwise be difficult due to size and portability of the instruments.

The addition of these instruments will provide the opportunity for all students to have instrument access throughout music class and will add variety to their choices of instruments to use when composing and creating music.

My students will be delighted to learn about all the new musical sounds they can make as we add to our instrument "menagerie"!
