My Project

The members of the school morning news team called The Rocket News are gaining a positive self-concept through their hard work and support they receive from their school community. Students who were once reserved, very shy, or felt like they didn't belong, are now seeing themselves as important members of our community.

We care about the social-emotional status of our school community and encourage others to care as well.

We do a social-emotional check-in every morning where students can let their teacher know discreetly if they are in need of support. Our schools demographic is mostly of low socio-economic status who have struggles we are often unaware of. Checking in although seems simple, goes a long way. Not only are the members of the team benefiting from their work, the whole school is.
