This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever discovered the world of rocks, they really ROCK!
We are a school with a wide variety of students.
This include diverse learning styles and key motivators. Our students do not have many resources to experience real world hands-on activities. Through discovery our students get excited about learning. We encourage our students to have all the experiences available to learn through inquiry.
My Project
We are requesting a variety of materials from rock and mineral categories, keeping in mind that some will be used for experiments we finalized in lesson plans to utilize next year and some will be used in hands on investigation. When choosing from a company list we tagged a number of items which are sold in packs so that students can work in groups and partners to investigate. Through these resources the students will be able to learn visually and kinesthetically about the properties. They will know how much rocks really do rock!
By supporting this project, we will give student real life experience with materials that make an impact on our world.
Providing our students with science materials will greatly improve their inquiry into the topic. Student will show understanding and become successful learning about minerals and rocks.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
