Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the curiosity that you had as a child? Hands-on science is the best way to learn. My students are fascinated with science and want to explore and investigate the world around them. Unfortunately, we do not have any science materials at our school.

My students are 4th graders from a high poverty area in southern California.

100% of my students receive a free lunch. Fifteen of my students are English Language Learners who are struggling with their vocabulary development. They are eager to learn and are hungry for knowledge.

My Project

My students need a science center, science books, and manipulatives to explore and investigate their science curriculum. They will be able to enjoy hands-on learning as they touch real rocks from a science kit. Science builds on vocabulary, comprehension, and reading fluency. We are looking forward to becoming geologists.

This project will inspire my students to love science.

It will empower them by providing real life science in the classroom. Many of my students are already eager to learn and this will make their learning fun and exciting. Who knows, maybe there is a hidden future scientist in my class!
