This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have just started the class, and while we have Robots and tools from when we were an extra-curricular team, I'm attempting to expand our scope.

Our students are very diverse.

While we are a male group, we come from very diverse backgrounds. We are also from very diverse income categories, but are primarily from low income families. The school itself has very little money for Robotics, especially this new class.

My Project

We are asking for a Lego Mindstorms EV3 robot. While we have several of the older models, we are wanting to expand our program and start experimenting with the newer technology. We also want to branch out and do some other Robot competitions and are preparing for them.

I am trying to build a strong Computer Science program for my community and I am finding that robotics attracts a diverse population.

We have expanded from an extra curricular program to a class, which I believe will be a draw to our other Computer Science classes.
