Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in Fordham, a traditionally underserved area of the Bronx, NY. Approximately 2/3 of my student population are ELLs and/or SWDs. Many of my students struggle with attaining the concepts taught in the content area classes and I try to find innovative ways to present that information differently.

My students are full of energy, enthusiasm and have a great desire to learn.

They are problem solvers, critical thinkers and resilient learners who do not turn away from a challenge.

My Project

The use of the Spheros will be utilized in the classroom to teach students how to code. Coding increases students' creativity, perseverance, and critical thinking skills. Students gain the confidence to take on new challenges and develop a new approach to learning as these skills are transferred to their content area classes and lives.

By donating to this project, you will support students in learning 21st-century coding skills that are essential in the future.

As our former President Obama stated, "Computer science is changing virtually every industry, from manufacturing to health. And I want to make sure that our young people learn it so you can be in the driver's seat."
