Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and kind leaders in our school and in our community. They come to school with such excitement to learn. They come from low income families and many are ENL students. Therefore the need for materials are crucial to their success as lifelong learners.

It's never too early to teach Robotic Concepts to young children!

My students are full of imagination and a desire to create things. Robotics is a natural fit for young children's interests and curiosity.

My Project

I want my students to learn how to use logical thinking and to find new ways of expressing themselves through a new form of literacy: CODING. Using the Bee-Bots my students will be engaged in a wide variety of cross curricular learning activities. It will help teach control, directional language, programming and early computing. The students will plan and create mazes, maps and games using the Bee-Bots. Their imaginations and activities they can create are endless!

Students learn by doing!

They love making things and they love to be in control. Students learn best when they construct by playing with and exploring concrete materials. The Zoob-Bot will provide opportunities for differentiated engagement. Students will invent with imagination. It enables students to learn basic engineering, mathematical and programming concepts.

These robots will reach many students as we compare and contrast how students create activities and robots throughout the kindergarten classes. Through questioning and observations students will be engaged in articulating and extending their own observations, thought processes and explorations. Through planning, testing and readjusting (if necessary) students will find their own answers and solutions. Students will also learn how to work with a team and understand the importance of that collaboration. Technology is an important part of our culture and our students need to be prepared and ready for the future.
