Robot, Camera, Action!

My students need a notebook to program their robot and create their multimedia projects. We can print our activities with the ink. The Lego will increase creativity.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every robotics club meeting will start off by saying "Robot, Camera, Action!" This project will promote student engagement and electrify learning through real-life problem solving. "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -Benjamin Franklin

Our students will not only learn to build a robot, but program it as well using Lego Mindstorms EV3.

Robotics will help our students in skills like hands-on learning, collaboration, problem solving, and creativity. The students will decide as a team what type of robot they will build and design. It will be their ideas and critical thinking that will bring the robot to life. In our robotics club, there are a few shy students and we believe that this program will boost up their confidence level. Students will also learn computer programming and coding. They will learn that once they input a code into the computer, the robot will perform a certain task. Our students will be taking photos and videos of their progress with their robot. During the program, they will work on a PSA emphasizing the lack of robotics programs in elementary classrooms. This video will inform the public about the positive impact robotics has on our children. Every child will participate in the video.

My Project

The materials will help our project in the following ways: The notebook will allow us to use the Lego Mindstorms software to create programs to bring the robot to life. The toner cartridges will allow us to print lesson plans and activities. The Mac Superdrive and adapters will be used by our students to edit and finalize the PSA video on a Apple macbook. The Lego Brick Box, Plates Set and Education Minifigures Set will introduce our students to the world of engineering. They will use their creativity to build and design anything with the bricks given to them. This will also strengthen their fine motor skills.

It will be the first year that our school has a robotics club.

Our students will also be exposed to computer science and coding at an early age. The PSA video will offer our students a different way to get their point across visually. The robotics club will have 3 components. The 1st will be building/programming the robot. The 2nd part will be the visual arts ( photography, video and filmmaking) using iMovie and a digital camera. The last part will be building something from scratch with Lego.
