This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help special education students learn how to do research using a laptop. All of my students come from families that are living in poverty and can not afford to buy a home computer, much less a laptop. These students need a laptop desperately in order to better access the curriculum.

My students are in 5th grade and come from a very low socio-economic, gang infested area in California.

They are hard-working students that are trying to make a better life for themselves. They face many challenges on a daily basis but still manage to improve academically. Our school is a Title I high-risk school that has made great progress over the past year. Overall, we are a school where children come first and we try to create a safe learning environment for all students.

My Project

A new laptop computer will change my students lives because many of them have never been able to use a laptop due to lack of access. With a new laptop, my students will be able to learn how to research using the Internet, along with learning how to use a laptop. There are many research projects required of 5th graders and most of my students do not have access to a computer at home. My students will have direct access to this laptop, using it during Independent Work Time and Research Study Time.

This project will have a broad impact on my students and will definitely change their lives.

They will be given the opportunity to learn new computer skill that are definitely necessary in order to be successful in the future. The students will benefit greatly from this project and all donations will help students that are facing more challenges than any child should ever have to experience.
