Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd-grade students are kind, caring, and excited to learn about the world around them. They begin every day looking to share their experiences and foster relationships with their peers and teachers. My students have developed a love for learning and enjoy studying and learning about new topics.

This year, I am teaching a class consisting of fully remote students.

Although they are currently not in the traditional setting they are used to, they work extremely hard within this new classroom setting each day. They have been working diligently to adapt to significant changes in their daily schedules, academics, and social lives throughout remote learning due to COVID-19 while keeping a positive outlook.

As my students and I navigate through full time remote learning, I am hoping to provide them with materials and content that would mirror the in person school experience they were receiving prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

My Project

With the ongoing changes occurring and this new way of learning being implemented, educators have been working diligently to think outside of the box in order to deliver instruction to their students. While thinking outside of the box, educators have also been working hard to find ways to keep the learning environment as normal and familiar as possible for our students.

Fostering and developing a love for reading through reading aloud is something that educators have been focusing on keeping a staple within the classroom, in person or remotely.

Through read alouds, students not only are able to grow their language and comprehension skills but are also able to further develop a love and appreciation for different books.

The read alouds requested in my project will not only be used for supplementary materials in my lessons but also for engaging activities and brain breaks throughout our fully remote school day!
