My Students

Logical reasoning, cause and effect and engineering are all a part of the constructive play experience. My young experiential learners desire to put their skills to the challenge as they become participants in the Tall Towers Jr. Workshop at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center.

Forty-one energetic, enthusiastic and engaging youngsters rotate my classroom door daily.

Our school is a math and science academy located in a high-need community in the public sector where 93% of my students are eligible for free lunch. During choice time my students have become Master Duplo builders and I desire to cultivate their passion by arranging an "awe" inspiring learning experience packed with adventure.

My Project

During the preschool years, constructive play emerges with exploration and make-believe play leading to more mature forms of play that allows children to strengthen inquiry skills and build conceptual understanding. Many different educational and creative play skills evolve from building experiences. Engaging in block play encourages inventive thinking and logical reasoning while constructing three dimensional patterns develops one's ability to problem solve. Children expand their language skills as they articulate about size, shape, colors, comparisons and other aspects of building. They learn and practice math skills by grouping, adding, subtracting and sequencing block constructions. The LEGO Discovery Center will provide a unique learning atmosphere to challenge and engage my master builders as they learn how to follow directions, recognize shapes and patterns, and develop their fine motor skills creating LEGO towers of various shapes, colors and patterns.

As Rising Young Architects, constructive play has many benefits to enhance dexterity, spacial thinking and creativity.

This fascinating excursion to the LEGOLAND Discovery Center will provide opportunities for ingenuity and skill development to unfold. Your support will empower young minds to create, promote fine motor development, foster conceptual knowledge and inspire destinies!
