Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school where 100% of the children are either on free or reduced lunch, my students are faced with challenges inside and outside the classroom. They love to dance, love to read, and love attention. Most of them do not receive any of those things at home. In this area, the children are being raised by their grandparents or live in a single parent home. This might prevent them for getting ahead early in life, and the children come in lacking in their academic and social skills. They come in Kinder already behind.

I want to help my children grow and expose them to an inviting and text enriched classroom.

They are all creative and eager to learn. I may not be able to change what happens outside the classroom, but I sure can change it for them inside the classroom. I want to create a positive academic experience for our early learners. I want them to beg to come to school instead of sigh. I want to start them on that path at an early age to academic excellence.

My Project

My students need up to date technology to help them during independent time that focus on the alphabet, letter recognition, and writing as well as number recognition. My students will use these tablets to explore their ability and learn through a different method to recognize letters and sounds which will lead them to build and read words! These tablets will be used during independent UDL time. This is time where they use different methods independently to learn their letters and sounds. They also are able to make words and practice reading using apps on the tablets. They will also be able to watch teacher made videos to help them be successful. Your generous donation to our project will improve our K classroom by building a stronger readers which will lead to great writers. This will change our students' lives! They will have fun while learning which will make them feel success at an early age. They will LOVE learning!
