My Project

Multi-sensory activities and hands-on learning best support my early learners, those with and without disabilities and those who are multilingual learners. Music activates the entire brain and naturally supports the strengths of these students! Classroom teachers and speech-language pathologists often report that music class is where they see the kids most engaged and responsive, demonstrating critical vocabulary, academic, and social-emotional skills. Through music, students don't even realize they are learning. Why.....? Because they're "just having fun"!

I hope to provide music and movement materials for STEAM-based learning centers in every classroom, with access to use during school-wide music events; music-making supports learning by tapping into kids' natural playful learning style, which I want to harness and extend across settings!

As the lead music teacher of my school, I will organize and inventory these instruments and materials. This project will be built over time until there are materials for everyone! Music kits will allow all students to have equitable access to instruments and movement props for sound and movement exploration, performances, classroom STEAM centers, school-wide music events, and parent-engagement activities! I love seeing my kids engaged in the learning process, supported through fun music-making during music class and beyond!
