My Students

My students are a unique bunch! Our classroom is full of diverse students with various backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, economic statuses as well as academic needs. Many of my students do not have the support at home that is needed for a successful education. While we try to provide everything we possibly can, the job is not easy. We strive for excellence, we praise each other and we practice honesty. Our classroom is a judge-free zone.

All children have special needs when it comes to their education.

My students are placed in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom. This means that 40% of the students fall under the special education umbrella and 60% are general education students. In an ICT classroom there are 2 teachers; one special education teacher and one general education teacher. My co-teacher and I are both very passionate about serving the community we work in and our students know that when they walk through the door, they will be challenged, they will be supported and most of all, they will be loved.

My Project

This project is called Rewards and Privacy. It is important that student efforts are recognized and even more important that students have comfortable working conditions.

In our classroom, we use a reward system called Classroom Dojo.

Students earn points and rewards. After 10 points, each child receives a pen or pencil. At approximately 30 pencils per month, this request will help us keep our reward system in place as promised.

The privacy boards are very important to minimize distractions during assessments. Students will be able to work without worrying once they put their privacy board up. These will also alleviate the nuisance of using work folders. Folders constantly fall down and end up causing distractions rather than alleviating them.
