Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I have implemented a point based incentive program in my classroom. Students can earn Dojo points for lining up quietly, walking in the hallways appropriately, carrying out kind and thoughtful acts for others, answering questions and volunteering, trying their best, and for working together with their peers. Every Friday students are thrilled to redeem their hard earned points at our Prize Closet.

Currently, our prize closet consists mostly of donations.

Small, gently used, donated toy cars, action figures, and stuffed plushies. As their teacher, I try time to time to use my own money to put towards the prize closet such as stickers, sharpeners, and decorative pencils.

I would love for my students in our Title 1 school to have access to some new and exciting prizes to look forward to earning. My third graders love to play cards during lunch, they are interested in slime, enjoy wearing bracelets, and they love small fun trinkets. With your help and donations, I believe that my students will be even more motivated to earn Dojo points in our classroom and simply "Bee the best that they could be!" - our school motto.
