Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate enough to teach such incredible students year after year. My students are thinkers, learners, questioners, and creators. They are learning to take academic risks, and are becoming increasingly more persistent through challenges. There is nothing I want more than for my students to feel prepared for future success.

My students continue to grow, despite many obstacles and barriers.

My amazing students reside in a neighborhood that would be considered of extremely low socioeconomic status.

Their parents often work multiple jobs in order to afford the necessities. 100% of the population at my school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch.

I have seen my students consistently demonstrate a desire to learn and be successful no matter the challenge. This has been incredibly motivating in my efforts to provide them with the best possible tools to ensure their development.

My Project

It is no secret that technology has become increasingly more present in education. My students are able to navigate tablets and Chromebooks, researching various topics and often choosing to submit assignments through Google Classroom, among other things. With specific regards to Math, it has been a bit more challenging to go digital. Rocketbooks are the perfect way to blend traditional pen-and-paper and technology. When students are done writing in the Rocketbook, it can be immediately uploaded to a Cloud service such as Google Drive. This will allow us to use student work to spark rich academic discussion and will allow me as the teacher to digitally compile student work for progress monitoring.

One of the many benefits of having Rocketbooks is that they will allow students to become more immersed in technology, while still providing a tried-and-true outlet for them to make their thinking visible.
